Once upon a time ...
there was a girl who just didn’t fit in.  She was awkward and dorky and different from the other kids.  Her crazy hair, skinny legs and alabaster skin made her stand out from the crowd and her strange personality didn’t help matters much.  She knew that one day her uniqueness would bring her great fame and fortune, but that didn’t make it any easier when they laughed at her and called her names.

Margot Potter is a woman of seemingly endless creative talents…author, freelance writer, jewelry and craft designer, theatrical actress, alt rock, jazz, blues, rockabilly and swing vocalist, poet, performance artist, TV personality, work from home mom…a true Renaissance woman.  It took her many years to come to the discovery that her path to success would lie in fully embracing her creative diversity.  She lives in a 125 year old Amish school house with her patient husband, adorable 10 year old daughter, barky terrier, two pot bellied pigs and small flock of pecky chickens.

Irreverent, Impatient, Imperfect and Impetuous…a design expert for the rest of us…her humorous approach to creating fashionable, funky, fabulous and fun jewelry and craft projects is totally unique. Her mission is to reach out to women of all ages and backgrounds and help them to free their inner crafty chicks and find their creative voices. Her books, The Impatient Beader, The Impatient Beader Gets Inspired! and Sparkletastic offer a sassy approach to jewelry making, crafting and design inspiration for the time and technically challenged.  Margot has just completed two new titles slated for release in February 2009 for North Light Books Beyond the Bead and Design Secrets Exposed (with Katie Hacker and Fernando DaSilva).   She works on air as the spokeswoman for the Suspicion™ marcasite jewelry line and does extensive freelance design work and writing for manufacturers and magazines.  She teaches creativity seminars for Swarovski™ at the Tucson Gem Show each winter.

At the ripe old age of 40 she realized that it really was possible to become one of those annoying people who say, “Do what you love and the money will follow.”  In 2003, she had to walk away from a much loved TV job and close the fair trade retail business that she and her husband had poured their collective hearts into.  She spent the next year trying to figure out how to integrate her unique talents into a career.  Piles of rejection letters and endless trips to the top of the “short list” and back were beating down her resolve.  She battled her way out of failure and rejection and realized that a smart woman with creativity, personality and a true understanding of the power of the feminine could be and do just about anything she could imagine.  So, she imagined a career as a design expert, TV personality and author, and proceeded to make it real.
